Van der Spek underlines its leading position as market leader in the rental of large tower cranes with the erection of an impressive Liebherr 1000 EC-H40 Litronic in the Netherlands.
The new flag ship amongst Liebherr tower cranes with maximum loads of 40 and 50 tonnes was proudly introduced on Bauma, last April 2013 in München.
Fundamentally, the transport sizes and weights of the 1000 EC-H have been optimised to reduce transport costs and avoid special transports. This means for example that the top part of the crane can be housed entirely in standard containers and can therefore be loaded economically for overseas transport. Jib sections can be transported inside the 1000 HC tower system.
The monoblock design of the 1000 HC tower system offers rapid and simple erection. The taper pin tower connection that is entirely free from play, coupled with the high accuracy of fit of the tower sections, increases the service life of the entire tower system.
The practical assembly technology from Liebherr ensures efficient and safe assembly of the tower crane. Assembly times are optimised thanks to the "Connect and Work" quick release closure system included as standard with all Liebherr tower cranes. The quick release closures include the jib and counter-jib connections, cabins and switch cabinet platforms as well as the plug-in quick release closure systems for the electrical connections to the hoist gear.
High load capacities and the MICROMOVE fine positioning system combine power and precision. For high lifting capacities at the tip, the 20-tonne version is available as a 2-fall version. Maximum load capacities of 40 tonnes are achieved with two trolleys travel gears and 4-fall reeving. Thanks to the MICROMOVE fine positioning mode, high loads can be positioned precisely down to the exact millimetre.
To indicate the need of a tower crane in this capacity, Van der Spek is the first to add a Liebherr 1000 EC-H to its rental fleet. Later this year a second unit will be erected on a project in Rotterdam.
The tower crane was transported directly from Liebherr's factory in Biberach (Ger) to the job site and erected by the mechanics from Van der Spek.
In spite of the bad weather conditions and the fact that this type of tower crane was completely new to the machanics, they managed to complete the erection in practically the same time they normally would build a 630 EC-H.
